BOTOX® Side EffectsWhen an experienced and qualified physician injects BOTOX® Cosmetic properly there are rarely any side effects. However, as with any drug or treatment there can occasionally be side effects that you should be aware of. If side effects do occur they are usually quite temporary and appear within the first week after injection and rarely last very long. Even the most difficult side effects will only last for a few months. The most common side effects of BOTOX® Injections when used to treat wrinkles may include headaches, respiratory infection, flu like symptoms, droopy eyelids, nausea, facial pain, redness at the site of the injection and muscle weakness.
To avoid any possible side effects of BOTOX®, patients who have any history of neurological disease that affect nerves or muscles, have any known allergies to the components of the BOTOX® formulation or who are either pregnant or nursing, should avoid BOTOX® Injections. In addition, anyone taking antibiotics such as tobramycin, gentamycin, lincomycin or clindamycin, heart medications for arrhythmias such as quinidine or any medications for neuromuscular diseases such as Myasthenia Gravis need to be sure to disclose these medications to the physician who is performing the treatment as they may predispose you to certain interactions and side effects of BOTOX®.
