BOTOX® Treatment: Eye Twitching

Eye twitching which is known medically as Blepharospasm or Benign Essential Blepaharospasm is an involuntary blinking or spasm of the eyelids. Blinking disorders are not sight or life threatening but can be annoying. Certain patients such as those with Tourette’s Syndrome or those with related neurological conditions may suffer from more severe blinking spasms that require medical treatment if they impair vision or irritation of their eyes. Eye twitching may have a number of causes, including but limited to injury or irritation of the cornea, stress, lack of sleep and fatigue, eyestrain, neurological problems, anxiety or heredity.

BOTOX® Injections into the muscles of the eyelids has been used successfully as a treatment for Blepharospasm. In fact BOTOX® has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration  (FDA) as a treatment, but not a cure for eye twitching
