Fibromyalgia BOTOX® Treatment

Fibromyalgia is a chronic health problem that plagues a number of people.Fibromyalgia is characterized by fatigue, muscle pain and "tender points" in the neck, shoulders, back, hips, arms or legs that hurt when they are touched. In addition Fibromyalgia causes a number of other symptoms including difficulty sleeping, morning stiffness, headaches, and problems with thinking and memory, sometimes called "fibro fog."

The cause of Fibromyalgia is uncertain. Although it can effect almost anyone, it is most common in middle-aged women. Those people with Rheumatoid Arthritis, Lupus Erythematosis and other autoimmune diseases deem more prone to developing Fibromyalgia. While there is no known cure for Fibromyalgia, sometimes medical therapy can help relieve the symptoms. Getting enough sleep and exercising may also help relieve symptoms. There is a school of thought that BOTOX® for Fibromyalgia may be useful. However the clinical studies performed using BOTOX® injections for Fibromyalgia to date have prodcued equivocal results at best. For this reason BOTOX® treatments for Firbromyalgia are not widely recognized as an effective treatment option.
